Sports vs. Dance

Okay, time for a couple random, but related, funny stories.

#1. As many of you may know, my work is helping to run the dance camps at BYU. For any of you who know me well, you know that dance is not exactly high on my 'to-do' or 'learn' list. I enjoy watching it and can appreciate the talent and skill that the dancers put into it (though I still don't 'get' a few styles of dances, and I don't know that I ever will). But if I had my choice, I would ALWAYS choose participating in or watching a sport over dancing. I guess it's a great thing that I LOVE event planning or else I would question my current field of work.

Anyway...basically what I am saying is that my knowledge of actual dance is pretty limited (and I can accept this and my life continues on just fine). Well, a few weeks ago I was trying to collect some pictures of different styles of dance to start the work on our new brochures for the camps. I asked one of the directors for some pictures of tap dancers. I let her know that I had already requested some pictures from our campus photo department of a closing number from a performance that I had attended the year before. The email response I received said this (there was no opening address to me, such as 'Dear Chelsy', etc...just straight into the email), "That wasn't tap in Christmas Around the World...that was clogging...totally different." THE END.
I had to laugh. Watching from my seat WAY UP in the Marriott Center at that performance, the sound of metal from the bottom of shoes on a hard floor, to my 'uneducated dance' ears, sounded like tap. I stand corrected.

The first shoes are TAP, the second are CLOGGING. Yep...'totally different'.
So I don't offend all my tap and clogging friends, I will acknowledge the actual difference (after having asked another director). Clogging has a 'double toe', so it is not as 'clean' a sound as the tap shoes. I'm sure there's more too it, but that's all I got! But I do get the difference better now.

#2: I had a meeting with some of the ballet directors. As we discussed the possible designs for the ballet camp shirt for next summer one of the directors mentioned that a long time ago they had a saying on the shirts that she would love to put on again. It was something to the effect of, "Dancers are Better". They laughed and thought it was so funny. 'Sarcastic Chelsy' wanted to say something really bad, but all I said was, "well, I'm a sports person, so I can't really say I agree with that." Needless to say, the conversation of that phrase ended. haha.

#3. So I have been trying (very poorly) to get myself on a better schedule of getting to bed at a more decent time. Last night I was working on making a card while Rand was doing homework. I tend to like having something to watch while I do crafty projects, so I turned the TV on. As I flipped the channels looking for something good, I came across ESPN Baseball Tonight. It just happened that this night was the coveted Web Gem Awards night. Needless to say, my card making productivity went down, and Rand took a break from his homework. We watched beautiful play after beautiful play. If you are not a fan of watching baseball because there isn't enough action, then this may be the thing you want to see! It's sweet play action one right after the other, non-stop, for a good hour!

We also found that during this same program, on Fox Sports they were playing the Best Dang (edited for all) Sports Show...Period, Top 50 Catches Ever. It was heaven. Amazing plays and catches all over the place. It's moments like this that I love that Rand and I both love sports (and more specifically baseball. I've dated some guys that are 'bored' by baseball. It was never going to work, haha.) On my first date with Rand, we ended the evening watching Sports Center's Top Ten. This is still one of my favorite things to do with him, just chill, sit and
watch some amazing plays!

So what's the moral of this story? Well, as I sat and watched the plays last night I thought, "I may not know the difference between a tap shoe and a clogging shoe...but I know what it means to 'turn two' or 'hit for the cycle' or 'run the option', 'going for it on 4th and long', 'having a triple double', what a 'hat trick' is, etc, etc. I'm sure if I gave a quiz to some of these directors, they'd be just as clueless as I was about those shoes. In fact, in response to that email, 'prideful Chelsy' wanted to take some different cleats over and say, "which is a soccer cleat, football cleat and baseball cleat?" Or take different gloves and say, "which is catchers mitt, a middle infielders glove, a first basemens mitt, etc." But I'm sure her thought would be close to the same of what mine was when I got her email, "I really don't care to know the difference. If I was into dance, I might care. But I'm not into dance...so I'll leave that up to the dancers to know."

So in the end, I'm glad that we can all have our interests. I'm glad that I grew up in a home where my parents exposed us to different things. I love the theater, and I love even more watching my own family members up on the stage (I always have to watch Saturday's Warrior and Scrooge every year. Not the 'released on tape' versions...but the stage versions that my dad and brothers are in....MUCH BETTER! You'll never catch me on stage though.) I'm excited for the day when I have a piano in my home so I can sit down and play when I'm feeling like it (it totally cuts down on TV watching time too!), and I need to play the flute more. I love to see the things that my brother Shaun creates through his drawings, wood working, etc. His wife Lacey is just as artistically talented, and my sister-in-law Emily is the dancing daughter my dad never had in me! Kevin and I love to go outdoors and do stuff like rock climbing, mountain biking and kayaking. And my mom is the one who will sit down and watch any sporting event with her kids...and she TOTALLY knows what's going on! We have a well-rounded family and I love it and I wouldn't change it. It helps me to appreciate what other are into and realize that what I like is not 'the best' or the only thing that matters in life.

So I guess what I'm saying is, no matter what you do (dancing, sports, music, etc) just realize that that's not the only thing out there. How boring would the world be if we didn't have different things to do and be interested in. Expose yourself to other things and broaden your horizens a little bit. If you have to, bite your tongue, swallow your pride and try to learn a little about something else. You never know what you may just end up enjoying on the side! And if you don't like it (I still just don't enjoy watching some styles of dance, bores me to death!)...at least you can really know that you don't like it! haha! But understand that other people do like it and leave it be.

Oh...and a final note. All the above mentioned dance directors are incredibly nice people and good to work with. I think they immediately thought I was a dancer since I work with that area. I just thought the comments were funny!

The Latest...

Last Saturday, October 11th, one of my best friends got married!
Dan and Kim Ence
Unfortunately, I didn't get many pictures.
But one of my friends was the photographer and she promised to send me some pics.
Here are a few pics I did get:
Kim's dress was really pretty...very classy, simple and elegant!
(I would expect nothing less from Kim.)

Here are the two little flower girls. I think they are Dan's niece's. The girl on the left had that look on her face through the entire thing, it was SO funny!
Especially when someone tried to take her picture.

It always takes a big event for any of the old gang to get back together!
We were able to see Brad and JD, as well as Jorey and his wife.
They refuse to take serious picture, too!

All I have to say to Linds and Kim: The CURSE is finally BROKEN!

Then this last Saturday we went on a fun double date with our friends, Brit and Kyle. It was a first date for them (Brit and I play sports together and Kyle works at the MTC with Rand). Since we are all a littel competetive, we decided to have a little team competition bowling
(following a scrumptious meal at Rumbi Grill).

I'll let the picture tell you who won!

We have now been challenged to other sports like tennis (which they are both great at and we...well, we've played), table tennis, basketball, etc.
I will concure that Brit is usually the better athlete than me (yep, I actually said it!)
This is why I prefer to play WITH her rather than against her!
Currently, our sights are set on the intramural championship t-shirt for flag football!

Hmmm...what other news?
Not much! Rand and I are doing our normal routine.
On Saturday I spent a number of hours cathing up on the cleaning around the apartment that's been neglected due to busy schedules. Thanks to my handy-dandy Sonic Scrubber, our bathroom and kitchen floors are SPOTLESS!

If you like cleaning (like I do), or just like things to be clean and want an easier way to do it...I highly recommend this little contraption.

OH...and the big news:
I am no longer doing the Executive MBA program (everyone let out a sigh of relief now!)
From the beginning something just wasn't sitting right with me about the program, but I thought it was more to do with the fact that I was insanely busy with work, school and my calling. I thought I just needed to let things calm down.

But, things were still feeling off about it even after things calmed down and were more organized. So, after some contemplating and praying about it, I decided to be done. The decision feels SO right, so I'm really not feeling bad or anything about it. It's a great program and I met some great people. I had a great group that I was working with. But this is the right decision for me right now! Instead, I'm going to try to take a few other classes in some areas that I'm really interested in and will be more geared towards things I plan to do in the future (I have the benefit of taking some classes for free while working for BYU).

And yes...the stress level in my life just went down considerable with that decision!

Conference Weekend

Rand and I had a pretty enjoyable weekend. If started Friday when we attended the opening night of our friend Travis Lovell's photo exhibit at the Covey Center for the Arts in Provo. It will be there thru November 1st, so go see if you are around. Travis is an amazing lanscape photographer (and a pretty good photographer all around...he was our wedding photographer!) He had been working on a project for a while of photographs of Utah Lake.
Below are a couple of them:

If you would like to see more of Travis's Utah Lake photos, you can go to: http://www.travislovell.com/
You can also see more of his photos at his photo blog (he has some great and more recent stuff there): http://modernpostphoto.blogspot.com/
The picture below is one of a group of pictures that Travis took of Havasupi (in Arizona). Rand and I dream of camping there! We've had a few friends who have and it is always highly recommended. Looking at these pictures you can see why! These pictures are also on Travis's website (along with a lot of other great ones!)

We also attended a wedding reception for a freind of ours (one of Rand's co-workers) and then went to dinner at Iggy's with some other friends so that we could see the end of the BYU game. There were quite a few people there that I'm pretty sure were UofU fans and therefore didn't want BYU to win. They were pretty loud about it, so we made sure to make a little noise when BYU won (though they played horribly! Hopefully that is out of their system before the UofU game!)

Saturday we watched conference and got some things done around the apartment. It was SO nice not to go anywhere or do anything (besides my grocery store run). Rand headed up to Salt Lake to attend priesthood session with his dad while I cooked meals (see end of post) and chilled at home.

Rand was especially excited to see that his mission president, Elder Lawrence Corbridge, spoke in the Saturday afternoon session. It was a great talk (if you missed it, go listen to it!)

Sunday we woke up and had some crepes for breakfast and watch the morning session of conference. Between the morning and afternoon sessions we decided to take a drive thru Alpine Loop to see all the leaves changing (we missed it last year by a few days and most everything was yellow!) The path was packed with cars and with people getting out and taking pictures. We were some of them! We expected to see lots of changing leaves...but we saw some other beautiful sites as well thanks to some recent storms (snow on the mountain tops, the clouds hanging over, etc). It was awesome. Hopefully these pictues do it justice (we just snapped a few quick ones with our little powershot. Some people were sporting some serious cameras up there! Sigh...someday I'll have one too!)

(I love how the above picture turned out!)

(The sky in the picture below was amazing...more so in person!)

After the drive we decided to stop by my brothers to see them (since it's been over a month). We watched the afternoon session of conference with them. I love my niece and nephew, they are so stinkin' cute. They were playing these cute little games with Rand and it was so fun. During the playing though, Ellie ran to hide in the bathroom and fell and hit her head on the toilet. We didn't even know (she walked out quietly and showed her mom). She will have a nice shiner from it! She becomes more and more like me everyday!

Then we headed outside so Ellie could show us how well she swing a bat and rides a bike. She's crazy! She flies down the street on her bike now that she learned how to ride without training wheels. She also has a nice swing with the bat (makes nice contact too) and that girl has an arm! If she chooses to play softball, I'll be excited to go watch her play!
Ellie is such a little poser!
Then there is Trevor who is shy as can be and won't even look at me!
I can't believe how big they are getting! I gave that BYU sweatshirt to Ellie when it was still too big for her! Now Trevor is wearing it...Inconceivable!

When Rand and I returned home, he helped me to finish up one more meal so that we could completely PACK our freezer. Saturday I made three big meals (chili, chicken and rice casserole, and some crock pot stew), and today some burrito enchiladas. All of these freeze really well and I am able to put them in the freezer and not worry about lunches or some dinners (when we are so busy). We (mainly Rand) can just grab it out of the freezer and he is good to go! This weekend I successfully froze 30 single serve meals! And I have other meals ready to be made to take their spots as they are eaten (pasta, stir fry veggies with rice, etc). My sister-in-law Emily introduced me to the world of pre-made freezer ready meals and it has been a HUGE time saver (not to mention Rand loves these meals and how easily they are at his disposal.) I have girls in my ward who have pre-made meals like this before they deliver their baby. Then they don't have to worry about making meals for a few weeks following! VERY SMART...I WILL be doing this!

I'm shocked we were able to get it all to fit (it took some doing). Don't mind the bottom right corner. I have two bins in there that I keep our frozen veggies, ice 'sports ball' packs and other random things in.

And lastly, we ended the evening watching some of the Planet Earth videos. Some friends from our ward had them and let us borrow them (Rand has been dying to watch them). We figure they are Sunday worthy since we are learning about God's creations (that works, right?)
These videos are AMAZING! If you ever get the chance to see them, DO IT! *You will be in absolute awe of the things they capture on film. BREATH TAKING for sure! I think we will have to invest the money in buying them one day...they are definitely worth watching over and over again throughout the years. (There's my 'plug'...you are welcome Discovery Channel!)

Over-all it was a great weekend and I'm sad I have to go back to work and homework tomorrow. I love conference weekend and hearing all the speakers and the words of encouragement and hope that they give.

Hope you all had a wonderful Conference Weekend as well!

The Last Few Weeks...

Well, it's been a pretty busy couple of weeks, hence no posts in a while. Really, there hasn't been a ton to share though (unless you want us to continuously post
about our school, work and callings!) :o)

I've been telling Rand for a while now that I wanted to get some swimmy-frogs (he laughs that I call them this). In one of my old apartments my roommates and I had a fish tank with a variety of fish, and one swimmy-frog. I loved the frog, I thought he was cool. So Rand humored me and let me get the frog. We bought a small 2 1/2 gallon tank (along with all the other things you need to start it up), and two swimmy-frogs. At first they just hung out inside the barrels and never came out. The tank was getting dirty quick too (even with a filter). I had been testing feeding them with shrimp pellets as well as tropical fish flakes. The pellets weren't what they wanted and they would dilute in the water and make it gross. One of the frogs even was getting sick (I did my homework to find out what it was and found it was 'fatal'. I was so bummed that I couldn't even keep a little frog alive for 2 weeks. As little and unimportant as it sounds, I really did pray he'd be better because I had so much on my plate and I couldn't handle not being able to keep a little frog alive! Seriously!) So I finally cleaned the tank, quit feeding them the pellets and bought two small algae eating fish. Now they are BOTH doing great and the little frog has returned to his normal color and activity (no more red legs)!

Rand laughs every time I feed them now because they see me and come swimming to the front of the tank and wait for me to drop the food in. Then they proceed to fight each other for it and I have to break them up with a little stick that I have. If you look close enough, you can see one of the frogs at the front-bottom center of the tank. The other guy is probably hiding in the barrels (I took this in the first few days we had them, so they weren't as active.)

The next big adventure for me was something I've been wanting to do for a LONG time.

I GOT BRACES!

Now I look even younger to people! haha.
I've wanted to get them forever. It was just one of those selfish things of mine where I wanted that nice, perfect smile. I would look at pictures and even if no one else noticed, I noticed every little thing that was out of place. With all the bad luck with dental work that I have had, I became more and more conscience of my smile. Then I married someone with a perfect smile and I wanted one too!

When Rand and I first met, he had braces. I wanted to get them but he thought that would be SO NERDY if we both had them...so I waited. We decided that since I have such great benefits through my work right now that we should go ahead and do it.

It's been one month so far and my teeth have moved a ton already. My bottom teeth are already almost in line. I haven't had much pain at all (shocker for me and my dental history). We'll see how it goes when they tighten them in another month.

1 month down...17 more to go!

Also this month, Rand and my birthdays. I had had class in Salt Lake one weekend (the weekend of the BYU vs. UCLA game). So while I sat in class Rand went to the game with his mom and brother (who flew in for the game). I then headed back to Rand's parents to watch the rest of what can only be called a slaughter with Rand's dad. We then all met up at The Asian Star in Sandy for our birthday dinner with his fam. By the way...if you live in Utah and are near Sandy, you want to eat at this restaurant, it is SO yummy!

Also this month, my old roommate Cat got married. This was a wonderful day because for whatever reasons, Cat was relationship inept (she'll admit it, I'm not being mean!) But she married a wonderful guy who is perfect for her (although he is a Yankees fan...sick!) And their reception was ridiculous (so nice!) Best reception food I've ever had! Rand got eat a bunch of fajitas while I had a few cups of special order hot chocolate
(and these were only a few of the MANY choices!)

Sorry to all who read the blog and we don't update it too often. It's been pretty busy for us and we've been trying to get more organized with our schedules. I'm hoping to post more often in the future (set aside time each Sunday)...we'll see how that goes!

The Last 6 Weeks!

Sorry to anyone who's been checking the site just to find it on the same post each time for the past 6 weeks. It's been really crazy and busy for us the last few weeks. Rand was finishing up school for the summer and I was swamped with some big camps, a conference and the start of my masters program. It's been incredibly stressful and hectic, but we've managed to have some fun along the way. Here's what we've been up to (sorry it's so long):

The last week of July was a crazy one for me (and Rand too since he was there with me all along the way!) I started my Executive MBA program. I was in class everyday from 8 - 5 (some days started a little earlier). It was a little overwhelming at times with all the work and seeing all the other students who have so much experience, but over-all it was a great week in the program. I think I'm really going to enjoy the program and my fellow classmates. We were put into 'teams' and my team is great. I've definitely been the biggest slacker so far (reasons why are to follow), but hopefully I start making up for that now that my work has slowed down some.

BYU EMBA Class of 2010

Oh, and did I mention that the same week of my residency week was also my biggest camp of the summer! I seriously don't know how I survived the week and didn't end up sick or anything. Pure blessings! I was in my office the Saturday night before the camp started until midnight, and it was more of the same the whole week. I'd go into the office early to make sure things were good, then off to class. Almost every break I was calling or stopping by the camp. Then class would get over, I'd head up to the camp to see how the day went and then back to my office to work for a number of hours more; either fixing things from that day or getting the ready for the next day. It was a totally crazy week!

The week ended on Friday night with the final banquet and performances which was fun to be at and see. The professional dancers all performed two numbers each and put on a great show. I really enjoyed working with them; they were very nice, gracious and fun. Of course, we had to get some pictures with them all at the end of the night.

Here I am with Jean Marc Genereux and France Mousseau
(If they look familiar, yes...you are right, they were choreographers on So You Think You Can Dance.)
Jean Marc is such a crack up and France is as spunky and fun as her hair!

Us with Pierre Allaire and Mireille Veilleux.
Pierre is one of the nicest people I've met and Mireille is so sweet.

Here I am with JT Thomas and Tomas Mielnicki.
She is so cute and fun. And Tomas was constantly talked about by the single girls in the office!

Rand and I also got to do a little dancing, luckily we both have other day jobs (and hobbies)!

Here I am with (L-R): Sam, Kasey, me and Amy.
These girls were the glue that held it all together during the days when I was in class!

The next two pictures are ones that Rand took on two different nights after getting home. It usually took me about 5 minutes after walking through the door to hit the love sac and be gone! Rand was a really good support that week as well, including staying with me at the office late at night (a couple of those nights being until 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM).

That weekend after the camp ended, my friend and old roommate Jenn had come into town from Texas for a work party (she works remotely). She invited me to come with her and her little baby since her husband wasn't able to fly out with her. A couple of our friends from our old singles ward also work where she does and we were able to meet up with them and their families. I lived in that ward for three years and loved it, and a lot of it had to do with the people who were in the ward, especially these guys. It was a great ward with great people and friends!

Brian, Ben, Jenn and I.

I also loved playing with Jenn's little boy Daniel. Such a cutie and great laugh.

Well, the weekend wasn't really long enough! It was a quick return back to work and another busy week. After a crazy week of school and the adult ballroom camp, we then had the youth ballroom camp. I'm not as involved with this camp because one of the student planners is in charge. It ran really well and we again had great professionals at the camp. We ended the week again with a banquet (that despite a crazy mom, went really well). If you haven't heard the phrase 'helicopter parent', please look it up. For the most part, camps would go really well in the summer if not for this! :o) But again, the professionals were GREAT to work with and tons of fun this week! The Youth Camp is much less hectic and high-maintenance that the Adult Camp and it was just a much more relaxed week overall.

Here we are with Urs Geisenhainer and Agnes Kazmiercsak.
She is TINY! They are both SO, SO nice! Great to work with and amazing dancers!

Here I am with Christian Perry. We decided that he looks a little like a darker Nicholas Cage.

And here we are with the life of the camp: Thomas Lewandowski. This guy has more energy than anyone I know. By the end of the week we found out why: the large amounts of caffeine he consumes in the form of coffee and energy drinks. In what could have been the worst night of my camp experience (due to early mentioned mom), he helped turn around with continuous jokes and offers to 'take care of it'. He kept us all smiling.

Again, Rand was right there with me through it all. I think sometimes he wishes he could do more to help (or take care of some people himself). In one month he saw me put ridiculous amounts of time and effort into camps and conferences, including tears, frustrations, major lack of sleep and working extra (EXTRA) hours...and it was nice to still find time to enjoy some things about them all (see picture below). I wish we had a picture of us joining the kids during the week in their 'fun' dance which included a karate dance to 'Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting'. :o)

Amy and Kasey having some fun with my camera when I didn't know,
so I decided to post it for all to see!

The end of the summer! Kasey came in to say goodbye before heading for California so we took a quick picture with all who were there. Kasey was such a huge help for me (starting way back when we had our Chinese Conference last year.) She was graduated but would come back to help when needed. She was always the one to come in, volunteer or just hang around late to make sure I didn't need anymore help! I SO appreciated her!

And the below picture summarizes some of the wackiness that happens in the office. Here are Travis, Ryan and Eddie trying to make themselves the height of Yao Ming by standing on chairs and desks with a measuring tape just so they can see what it's like to be as tall as him.

And even after all of this, we still tried to manage to have some other type of normal life:

We said goodbye to our neighbors who lived below us, Craig and Veva. We realized we didn't spend as nearly as much time with them as we should have! We miss having them just below us to hang out with. Who's window will Rand throw snowballs at in the winter? Who will I bother at 10:30 at night when I'm vacuuming? What other incredible athlete will I find to play all my sports with that could possibly take Veva's place? But we wish them luck as they start the next phase of their lives in Arizona...with a baby on the way!!!

I also got to do some babysitting for a family in my ward. I love the Samek's, they are awesome. They were one of my favorite families when we moved into our ward. They have 3 adorable kids who are SO full of energy! I love all the fun they bring with them to church! One time Rand and I watched them during sacrament meeting while their parents spoke. I took Jack out to get a drink. His older brother asked where we were going. When we told him, his reply was,
"You aren't going to get a drink, you are going on a date." Gotta love kids and the things they come up with!

Also during these two weeks was Tyson and Lauren's wedding. They were married in the Fresno, California temple and then had a reception out in West Valley a few weeks later. Rand loves getting together with all the guys. Below are (L-R, F-B): Kenny, Nick, Rand, Josh, Ian, Tyson, Jimmy Joe and Ike.

More August Fun!

Well, after camps ended and I finished up a big national dance conference, I finally got a breather! First on the agenda...JACK JOHNSON CONCERT!
My parents and little brother came into town for Education Week at BYU. Kev got a ticket to come with us to the concert and it was a blast! I loved the chill atmosphere there. The only thing I wish is that I could sit the whole time. Maybe this is why I don't go to too many concerts...but I just wanted to sit, chill and listen to Jack. But the people in the row in front of us wanted to stand the ENTIRE time! Oh well, I still enjoyed it. I did still sit at times and just watched the screens (something I'm used to doing at sporting events. I know, I'm wierd. I'm not a fan of student sections because you end up standing most the time and really, I just want to chill and watch the event. Maybe this is why I love baseball games because you SIT and chill and watch and only get up for REALLY exicting plays. For basketball games when I was first at BYU, I used to go and get in with my student ticket (cheaper and on benches) and then move to an open chair in the regular seats. My favorite tickets I ever had for football games were the ones I won with a friend. We sat WAY up towards the top...but we did SIT and were able to see the whole field and everything entialed in the play. ) Anyway...yeah, I prefer to sit and chill.
The stage set up was awesome! The way they had the different screens with the pictures and videos was pretty cool.

The encore was really cool. Just Jack returned and played his guitar. They made it look like there were stars behind him and it was pretty cool.

Sadly (but not really for me), Rand had to give back his summer ride! Our friend Clayton was leaving for the summer and let Rand use his motorcycle while he was gone. It helped us a lot because my work schedule was so crazy this summer and one car would have been really hard.

Rand loved having the bike and loved riding it. He told me that it didn't 'get it out of his system', but instead just put it in his system. Luckily, we don't have the money to get one...and by the tiem we do, we'll have kids and we both agree it's too dangerous to risk!

While the fam was in town we decided to have a little fun. We went rock climbing one day with Brian, Em, Kev and his friend Amelia. Rand has a bad shoulder right now, so he couldn't climb. But he ran over to the climbing gym and cheered us on.
Kev and Em goofing around!

Amelia made it to the top!

As did Emily!
(I apparantly missed the memo to wear a white shirt and pink sweats. But lets be honest, I don't own pink sweats..and the odds are slim that I ever will.)

Brian showing off his climbing abilities.

I didn't get any good pics of me or Kev climbing (we go alot though, so we have plenty already).

Next we decided to take a trip to Sundance where we could do a little mountain biking while my parents and the grandkids rode the chair lift and chilled. It was the perfect day for riding! I don't have a pic of all of us (I think Em has one, I'll have to get it). It was Bri, Em, Kev, Amelia, Rand and I. Em and Amelia hadn't been before, but they both did really good for their first time. It's not the easiest thing to do and the risk of getting hurt is kind of high (just ask Brian about his reck a few months ago, not to mention my spill at Sundance two summers ago).

At the end, Rand and I took one more ride by ourselves and went on a little longer ride around Scott's pond and Archie's Loop. Archie's loop is a really narrow trail with alot of steep drop-offs...but the scenary is gorgeous. It was an awesome ride!

Then a few days later we decided to do some camping with our friends Bryce and Krista. I knew both of them before they ever knew each other. Krista and I play sports together and Bryce was in mine and Rand's single ward. As soon as I heard they had been out on a date I knew they'd be perfect together! A year later and they are expecting their first baby in a few months.

We headed up to Payson Lakes where we did some fishing, horse-back riding and chilled around the campfire eating tin-foil dinners, smores and chatting.

I hadn't been fishing in probably about 20 years! But, I actually caught a fish!
I let Rand do the gutting though! haha!

And the horse-back riding is my favorite! I love riding horses. They are such beautiful animals and it's just so chill and relaxing to ride. Unfortunately, I found that Rand really is not a fan of horses AT ALL! He is actually pretty scared of horses...but he was really nice to still go for me. He kept telling me all throughout the ride that it was proof that he loved me! haha!
And yeah, Krista is 7 months pregnant (though you can barely tell), and she's out camping in a tent and riding horses. She's such a stud!

And we ended August with the wedding of our friend Clayton and his wife Dani. It was a beautiful sealing and Dani looked gorgeous! How Clayton got so lucky is beyond me?! Just kidding, Clayton is one of our good friends and we are so happy for him! and we loved their wedding colors (green, brown and ivory! What GREAT taste!)

Now, one more day off with Labor Day and then it's back to...laboring at work and school (kind of ironic, don't cha think?)
